EMDR- Eye Movement De-sensitization Reprocessing

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a psychotheraputic process designed to address traumatic or dysfunctional memories and experiences, and their psychological consequences.

It uses bi-lateral stimulation (simple eye movements) to mirror the REM phase of sleep, during which information is naturally processed. As old disturbing emotional or traumatic material is reprocessed, it is re-framed by current adaptive and functional information. This facilitates self healing and long lasting relief from earlier negative influences.

How can EMDR therapy help?

EMDR therapy was developed by an American psychologist, Dr Francine Shapiro, to help soldiers deal with post traumatic stress disorder but it can also be very effective in helping with grief, phobias, anxiety, panic disorders, sexual dysfunction and a wide range of experientially based problems.

When EMDR is used in conjunction with Hypnotherapy and EFT it can produce incredibly rewarding results.
